Who is the best CISO in the whole country? The state-accredited certification organization CIS, which specializes in information security, has called for submissions for the “CISO of the Year” competition. The submission deadline is March 18, 2022. […]
Large companies and government organizations are among the particularly lucrative targets of cyber attackers. In the meantime, however, regardless of industry or size, more and more challenges in the field of information security – for example in the form of sophisticated cyber attacks – are coming to companies. The “Chief Information Security Officers” (CISO) play an important role here, because they are responsible for the implementation, planning and review of security-relevant topics in companies. Klaus Veselko, Managing Director of CIS – Certification & Information Security Services GmbH, explains that with the newly launched competition, on the one hand, the aim is to bring the award-winning achievements to the front of the curtain and, on the other hand, to offer additional impulses and inspiration, and calls for participation: “The winner will have the opportunity, among other things, to present their own successful project live at the CIS Compliance Summit on September 20, 2022 in Vienna.“
Procedure and possible projects
Interested parties have until 18 March 2022 the opportunity to apply themselves or to nominate other CISOs – with their consent. Subsequently, an independent expert jury makes a pre-selection. The final result will be announced to the public at the CIS Compliance Summit 2022. In the course of the submissions, the background will be briefly presented and the outstanding success criteria of the individual CISO role (e.g. savings, improvement of security, dedicated team, technology used, etc.) will be presented. There are hardly any limits to the range of projects and measures that can be submitted, ranging from the preventive defense against cyber attacks or the implementation of an innovative information security management system (ISMS) under challenging conditions to the further development of an ISMS into an integrated management system with business continuity management (BCM). The winners will also receive a CIS education voucher worth 2,000 euros.
An event with Networking opportunities
The CIS Compliance Summit will take place on 20 September 2022 at the Austria Trend Hotel Savoyen in Vienna. In addition to numerous lectures and the presentation of best practices, the event also serves the networking and exchange of experience of the Austrian security community.
