The French carmaker wants to reduce costs and develop vehicles faster. […]
More than 20,000 employees in Renault’s vehicle development will use the “3DEXPERIENCE” cloud platform in the future. The carmaker wants to consolidate software for 3D design, simulation and data evaluation for all locations worldwide. In addition, data should be able to be used more easily and quickly throughout the company. The goal is to reduce the time spent on vehicle development by about a year and save money.
The solution was developed by the French software house Dassault Systémes. Among other things, Renault wants to develop programs for new vehicles and mobility services. In addition, all product-related data in the product life cycle should be able to be exchanged in real time. In order to develop different product configurations faster, the group wants to work with digital twins on the platform. This applies, among other things, to the areas of design, product development, industrial process engineering, parts and material procurement, costing and quality assurance.
“The 3DEXPERIENCE platform combines our engineering with all disciplines to form a digital company. In this way, we will gain agility, speed and effectiveness in order to be able to develop the new mobility faster than ever before,“ comments Renault CEO Luca de Meo. The partnership with Dassault Systémes is part of the strategic plan “Renaulution”, with which the company wants to align its business model to sustainable value creation.
The Renault Group is headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. In 2020, the Group generated 43.47 billion euros and employed around 179,000 people.
