Infineon Graz expands development for microcontrollers

The demand for microelectronics solutions is continuously increasing in view of the rapid electrification and digitization. In order to do justice to this development, the Infineon Development Center Graz is expanding its range of tasks. To this end, up to 50 new employees will be set up by the end of 2022. […]

From now on, high-performance and energy-efficient microcontrollers will be developed in Graz for use in many areas of everyday life. The focus is on the development, design and layout of innovative microcontrollers, which are used, for example, in household appliances, power tools, e-charging stations and batteries for e-bikes, in solar systems or industrial robots and automation systems. Above all, these enable secure data processing in the Internet of Things (IoT). In addition to Austin/Texas, Bangalore/India and Shanghai/China, Infineon’s Graz site is thus one of the Infineon Group’s main development sites for industrial IoT microcontrollers.

Stefan Rohringer, Head of the Infineon Development Center Graz: “Intelligent factories, smart homes, solar and wind power plants or sustainable mobility solutions rely on microcontrollers from Infineon. These control systems intelligently, safely and energy-efficiently and ensure that these different applications are optimally equipped for the complex requirements of the networked world and also the use of artificial intelligence. We work with expertise from Graz on these solutions for tomorrow, which are used worldwide. For this we already need highly qualified employees.“

Up to 50 new employees needed

With the additional development tasks, Infineon offers new jobs at the Graz site. The Competence Center for Contactless Technologies now employs more than 500 employees and students. Up to 50 new employees will be gradually established by the end of 2022. We are looking for project managers and developers with professional experience – especially experienced system architects, concept engineers and verification experts. On the other hand, Infineon offers job opportunities for young professionals from higher technical colleges (HTL), universities of applied sciences or technical universities with a focus on electrical engineering, telecommunications, IT or telematics.
