According to the ICT status report of UBIT1, 10,000 IT employees were already missing in 2019. The digitization push caused by the corona pandemic has exacerbated the situation. The current Jobs PLUS Ausbildung initiative of the waff-Wiener ArbeitnehmerInnen Förderungsfonds, starts exactly there: According to the motto “Together against the IT skills shortage” Microsoft, ETC-Enterprise Training Center companies, FH Campus Wien and Campus Wien Academy support this long – standing success program.

More than six months of standstill

IT specialists are more in demand than ever, often vacancies remain unfilled for more than half a year. Due to a lack of brains, transformation projects are slowed down at a rapid pace and companies thus incur high costs or loss of income. At the same time, Austria has a high unemployment rate, which has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, among other things.

IT experts for companies

Jobs PLUS Training is an innovative approach to closing the gap on the market: A unique cooperation between Microsoft, ETC, FH Campus Wien and Campus Wien Academy, waff and AMS Wien as part of the Implacementstiftung Wiener Fachkräfteinitiative. Together, two one-year, dual certificate courses were developed. From October 2021, 15 participants will be trained in the areas of “Modern Cloud Administration” and “Software Testing and Release Management”.

Benefits

For companies that need new specialists, waff has recruited suitable career changers in a multi-stage selection process: “Jobs PLUS Training thus offers the unique opportunity for IT enthusiasts to enter the industry,” says Daniela Berndl, project manager of Jobs PLUS Training at waff and continues: “The applicants are selected in a professional assessment center. The dual training combines theory and practice and concludes with a state-recognized certificate.“ A great advantage of this dual program: During this training period, the company does not incur any wage and non – wage costs. The participants receive their livelihood from the AMS. In addition, the waff provides a subsidy for the qualification costs up to a maximum of 1000 euros per person.
