macOS: It's that easy to digitize the signature

Documents that you receive virtually, but then have to send back signed – a well-known and cumbersome problem. macOS has a perfect feature for this. […]

You will receive a document, which you should sign – by e-mail. Or a digitally written letter, but which should bear a handwritten signature. Sure, you could scan his signature – but who still has a scanner today? Under macOS, there is a function for exactly this: The cam scan. He goes like this:

  1. Open the document – usually a PDF – which you should sign with the usual preview app
  2. Click on the pencil icon in the circle (far right next to the search field)
  3. Now click on the signature icon, then on Create signature
  4. You could now create a signature on the trackpad – but this rarely works out well and the signature becomes a crackling crack. Click on Camera instead
  5. Now sign by hand and a ballpoint pen on a white paper and hold it in front of your built-in webcam
  6. This recognizes your signature. Once you are satisfied with the scan, click Done.
  7. From now on, your signature is available in this menu and you only need to drag and drop it to the desired location
