The funding campaign is open to all: private individuals, companies, students, associations and university institutes – all are invited to submit their innovative ideas and projects on the topic of the Internet. The Martin Prager Integration Prize and special prizes for projects on “Sustainability” and “Digital Self-Awareness” will also be awarded.
Up to 50,000 euros of funding will be distributed to projects. The scholarships are endowed with up to 5,000 euros for diploma or Master theses and up to 10,000 euros for dissertations/PhD. In total, one million euros are in the funding pot. More information is available on www.netidee.at . Applications can be submitted online until 11 July 2022. The netidee Funding Advisory Board then evaluates the applications. In November 2022, the sponsored and the winners of the special prizes will be presented.
The entire funding process takes place online, from the application to the payment of the funding. All project results are published for use and further development under open source or Creative Commons licenses. In this way, the entire Internet community can benefit from it.
The Martin Prager Integration Prize of 3,000 euros will also be awarded this year. This was in memory of the deceased Board of Trustees of the Internet Foundation, KR Ing. Martin Prager, launched. The prize is awarded to the funded project that best aims to strengthen digital participation and the use of the Internet for integrative purposes.
Special prizes for projects on “Sustainability” and “Digital Self-Awareness”
We are looking for innovative projects that contribute to the sustainability of the Internet. The reduction of CO2 emissions and the improvement of the ecological footprint through e.g. sustainable IT architectures, optimization of infrastructure or research on the energy consumption of Internet applications are among these topics. 3,000 Euros in addition to the funding will be awarded to an outstanding project.
The topic area “Digital Self-Awareness” is about ideas, creative approaches and projects that make people aware of the psychological effects of the Internet and digitization on people. Among other things, the teaching of a mindful handling of the diverse possibilities of the Internet, the support in psychological crisis situations due to the digital omnipresence or research on the effects of the digital world on the organism and people are among these topics. Contributions to the further development of the Internet or through the Internet in this field are sought. 3,000 Euros in addition to the funding will be awarded to an outstanding project.
