Oppo introduces 240-watt charging technology

The Chinese tech company Oppo introduces the new Supervooc technology. With 240 watts, a smartphone should be charged from 0 to 100 percent within 9 minutes. […]

Oppo has been doing pioneering work for a long time when it comes to charging technology. Until the beginning of February, the Vooc technology was able to fully charge the battery of the Find X3 Pro within 38 minutes – 66 watts. With the launch of the Find X5 series, the Chinese increased to 80 watts and the charging cycle took less than half an hour (12 minutes for 50 percent). Now Oppo is already making headlines in this area again.

9 Minutes for 100 percent charge, for 50 percent it only takes 3.5 minutes – with a 4500 mAh battery. The reason for this: the new SuperVOOC technology with a 240 Watt power supply. Although it is currently only a prototype (and details about the half-life of batteries are not yet known), Oppo announced right away that an only slightly slower standard is almost ready for the market: 150 watts. The Oppo phones and also individual devices of the Oppo partner company OnePlus should be capable of this during the year.

This is thanks to the so-called Battery Health Engine, which includes a chip for optimal battery management – including heat monitoring. Up to 1600 charging cycles should be possible without the capacity of the battery falling below 80 percent of the original performance – that is, over 4 years with a daily charging cycle.
