As with its predecessors, Qualcomm is giving its top processor Snapdragon 888 an update: The Plus version should bring even more performance especially for gamers and AI applications. […]

At the Mobile World Congress, Qualcomm unveiled its new flagship processor, the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G. Compared to the base model, this offers as the strongest of the eight cores a slightly faster Kyro 680 Core, which is clocked at up to 3.0 GHz.

The sixth generation of the AI engine should also increase the pace of such applications by 20 percent, the manufacturer promises. In addition, applications such as a bokeh effect without additional camera lens should be possible.

Among the smartphone manufacturers that have already announced the use of the platform is Asus with the ROG Phone, Honor with the upcoming flagship Magic3, Motorola, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Qualcomm expects the first devices to use the Snapdragon 888 Plus in the third quarter of this year.
