Strengthening the central platform for the protection of all data in the hybrid cloud
Veeam CTO Danny Allan presents current and future-oriented innovations at VeeamON 2022, including Veeam Backup & Replication v12, Veeam Backup for Salesforce, and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v7
Veeam Software, the leading provider of backup, recovery and data management solutions for modern data protection, gave a coveted insight into the product roadmap until the end of 2022 on the second day of its annual user conference VeeamON 2022, the “Modern Data Protection Conference of the Year”. Veeam also offered a preview of the future and presented innovations around the upcoming updates of its central platform for protecting all data in all environments – cloud, virtual, SaaS, Kubernetes and physically. For the second half of 2022, Veeam announced important innovations in cloud-native solutions (for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud) and in the SaaS offering (Microsoft 365 and Salesforce), as well as a deeper integration of Kasten by Veeam K10 for Kubernetes and, of course, the highly anticipated Veeam Backup & Replication v12.
Danny Allan, CTO at Veeam
“We help almost 450 000 customers around the world to protect their data from malicious actors and prevent downtime and data loss,” says Danny Allan, CTO at Veeam . “With Veeam, you have control over your data and can back it up and restore it anywhere in the hybrid cloud. Veeam enables companies to securely switch to the cloud without being tied to cloud mobility. This is the definition of modern data backup. Our consistent innovation- and product–driven growth will be on full display at VeeamON 2022 – we continue to set the highest product standards and respond to the requirements of our customers to redefine the term ‘security’, to ensure reliability and to provide sustainable solutions.“
Veeam Backup &Replication v12
New feature of Veeam Backup & Replication V12, which makes it possible to transfer NAS backups directly and immutably to object storage
After more than 850,000 downloads of Veeam Backup & Replication v11, Veeam continues to innovate and expand its extensive feature set with Veeam Backup & Replication v12. Veeam presented V12 for the first time at VeeamON 2022 and gave a preview of even more functionalities in the focus areas of cloud, security and enterprise. Veeam is expanding the capabilities customers need in the ever-changing IT ecosystem with the following new enhancements:
New protection group type, cloud machines, which can be used to secure AWS and Azure compute resources with the Veeam agent in a cloud-native deployment.
- Additional cloud-accelerated functionalities, including direct write access to object stores and cloud-based agents.
- The wide and native availability of immutable backups provides more control for even faster ransomware recovery and protection against cyber threats.
- Additional support for enterprise applications and innovations facilitate Day 2 operations and ensure greater efficiency in scaling.
- Centralized visibility and management of Kubernetes data backup with the new Veeam Backup & Replication plug-in for the new box by Veeam K10 V5.0.

“Against a backdrop of increasing cyber threats, exponential data growth, and unstoppable cloud adoption, protecting data and systems at scale, no matter where they are, has become a must for businesses (of all sizes) around the world,” he said Christophe Bertrand, Program Director at ESG Research .

“Our research shows that there are significant data protection gaps – and thus risks for data loss – when it comes to cloud-resident data, applications, containerized services and as-a-service platforms. That’s why this new version of Veeam V12 is so important: it not only builds on the proven platform, but also expands the possibilities of reducing business risks by improving the recoverability of data and system security on a large scale.“
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v7
In addition, Veeam demonstrated advanced monitoring and reporting capabilities for the upcoming version 7 of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, which is expected later this year.
As the market leader in Microsoft 365 backup with over 11 million users who have signed a paid contract, the new version will offer enterprise-level monitoring and reporting capabilities thanks to the integration of Veeam ONE, which, thanks to the integrated intelligence, will help ensure that systems and infrastructures work smoothly. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v7:
- Full visibility: A single view of all Microsoft 365 backup architectures and components.
- Proactive Management: Real-time alerts to quickly fix data vulnerabilities.
- SLA Trust: Detailed reports ensure security and protection.
Veeam Backup for Salesforce

Following the success of its Microsoft 365 product, Veeam has now given a first look at Veeam Backup for Salesforce, a coveted addition to the Veeam portfolio. With the ability to create backups in the cloud and on-premises, the new offering eliminates the risk of losing Salesforce data and metadata. The main highlights are:
- Control and Flexibility: Data owners avoid being tied to backup and storage space and can deploy their backup environment anywhere they want.
- Salesforce-specific Backup and Restore: Using native APIs specifically designed for Salesforce to restore Salesforce records, hierarchies, fields, files, and metadata.
- Fast recovery from Data Loss: For protection against human error, integration problems and other common Salesforce data loss scenarios.

“I am looking forward to presenting these new innovations to our customers and partners for the first time at VeeamON 2022,” Allan continues. “The fact that Veeam moved more data in the first quarter of 2022 than in the whole of 2020 proves that companies need better intelligence, data mobility, an ecosystem of collaboration and a hybrid world. We know about the power that data has to solve real challenges, to change the course of history and also about its impact on each individual. Managing this data for hundreds of thousands of organizations around the world is a responsibility entrusted to us, which we are proud to bear.“
