eBay has announced a strategic partnership with payment provider Klarna. As part of the cooperation, consumers in Germany should be able to benefit from the flexible payment methods “purchase on account” and “installment payment”.
The two new options complement the existing offer, which also includes Klarnas Sofortüberweisung. The introduction of the new payment options should be gradual. As the company announces, selected merchants will initially be able to offer both payment options in the coming weeks; the broad introduction will be successful during the year.
“Further improving the shopping experience”
“Consumers around the world are turning away from traditional means of payment and using alternatives that better meet their expectations by offering smart and transparent services. eBay customers are no different,“ says Jani Tyyni, Head of Northern and Central Europe at Klarna. “Through our strategic partnership with eBay, we are now able to further enhance the shopping experience by offering Klarna payment options to millions of customers – allowing them to save time, make informed decisions and stay in control of their personal finances.“
eBay is also stepping up its game when it comes to live shopping: Just recently, the online marketplace announced the planning of an event-based shopping platform on which users can bid at live auctions. The bidding on “Live by eBay” should work according to the well-known principle during the event, with a focus on products from the fields of art, antiques, fashion & lifestyle and vintage furniture.
