What lessons can be learned from 2021 in general and from the corona crisis in particular for the future?
Digitization and the use of digital tools has become vitally important for all areas of economic activity. Only through digital processes and permanent further development can you remain competitive.

In your opinion, how will the corona crisis affect the IT industry, companies and our society in the coming year?
The ongoing difficult supply situation on the semiconductor market will only improve gradually, demand is unhindered. Freight costs as well as energy prices and ancillary costs will continue to rise due to demand.

What were your professional and personal highlights in 2021?
We are very pleased that our cloud platform ArrowSphere has been increasingly accepted by many customers and partners in 2021. The cloud market is becoming increasingly important and simplifying the complex billing processes achieved by ArrowSphere is a welcome and important facilitation for our channel partners in their daily operational business.

Which topics do you think should be at the top of the agenda of IT managers in the coming year and why or which IT topics will play a particularly important role in 2022?
The topics will continue to be security, the cloud and the optimization of processes. We are also sure that the topic of automation will become more and more important in the broad application.

“Arrow has already invested in 2021 and operates a 50kW photovoltaic system at the Linz site in order to produce a large part of the electricity at the Linz site itself. The electrification of the passenger car fleet has also begun and several electric cars are already in use.“

The last two years have been marked by the pandemic and accelerated digitization and brought us hybrid working models. After the pandemic, the next – bigger – crisis, the climate crisis, has to be dealt with. How do you think companies need to change in terms of sustainability? What concrete measures are you/is your company planning for 2022 and beyond?
Arrow has already invested in 2021 and operates a 50kW photovoltaic system at the Linz site in order to produce a large part of the electricity at the Linz site itself. The electrification of the passenger car fleet has also begun and several electric cars are already in use. These measures will be continued continuously. Travel was carried out by rail whenever possible. This should remain the case in 2022. The most careful possible use of resources is firmly anchored in the Arrow company guidelines.

How well is your company or how well are Austrian companies generally positioned for new work – i.e. distributed teams, home office, hybrid working models, etc.?
Arrow offers a working environment in which remote office, distributed teams and collaboration across multiple locations have been successfully practiced for years.

Do you think that the tense situation regarding the shortage of IT specialists will improve in the coming years? What can be done in this area?
Arrow has already launched an initiative for the training of IT technicians in 2021 with well-known partners from Upper Austria and will implement this initiative in 2022. The industry itself is in demand to show initiative and to look for new talents. People who have previously worked in other areas should consider that the transition to the IT industry is quite possible and can be implemented with the support of the industry.
